Hi everyone, I currently have a 1080 Ti and am thinking about upgrading. My RAM is 32 GB 2400. I read some information elsewhere in the forum that you are more likely to run into cpu bottleneck issues with high FPS but I game at 4K and use a TV only capable of 60. I do use VR pretty heavily though. Thank you!

At 1080p you will see some bottlenecking, but not at 4K. Of course, the regular caveat is that it depends on the game.

The reason you see more cpu bottlenecking at high FPS is because if the video card can crank out high FPS, then the processing must be easier. If the GPU is not straining, then any strain on the CPU is noticed. If instead the GPU is already strained, then some strain on the CPU is less noticeable.

Thank you for the replies, it sounds like there’s a bigger chance it will affect my VR than my regular gaming where my display is only capable of 60 FPS. Since VR runs at 80 to 90 Hz a bottleneck is more likely to show up there. Thanks again.
