Will a AMD Phenom II X4 960T work in a ASUS 'Crosshair' nForce 590SLI?

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

The title says it all pretty much; I've heard it can be done but I'm after some concrete proof before splashing out £90 for the CPU.

I also want to find out what BIOS version needs to be used?

I've checked the official site but it obviously shows support for the first Phenoms, not the II series.

Someone in the below link claims to have used a 940 with the 1304 beta bios; this is obviously another unsupported CPU.

I also read that there can 'sometimes' be issues with CPU's that are 125w+ as the old AM2+ boards only support CPU's up to 95w. However this CPU is exactly that, 95w, so I assume it won't be an issue 😉

Don't waste your money. If Deneb Phenom II's aren't even on the cpu support list, I certainly wouldn't try a Zosma.

Even if it took a 940, it wouldn't take a 960T. Completely different core.

Why would you choose a 960T anyways? Why not a much faster 965BE? (If it was possible)

Ah ok, I didn't realise they had different cores. Well hopefully I might (hope!) get someone reply who does know if it can be done anyway

The reason for asking about the 960T BE is simply because I know of a supplier that has some still available.......as for the 965 BE; I dont 😉

Can't immagine why it wouldnt work. Its a fairly decent CPU, easy to OCC to 4.1Ghz (Easy as in, up the multiplier and nothing else 😉 )
I'm using it with a single 580 but does everything lovely that's launched at it 😉

His board doesn't even support Phenom II's and you can't imagine why it wouldn't take a Zosma?

I know for sure that it can take a Phenom II (940 BE) albeit with a custom BIOS (Ginie's 1402 modified BIOS; see below link) but like I say, the question here is if anyone has tried a 960T and if they have, what BIOS worked?

I know it's a long shot but if its absolutely not possible then I'll go for the 940 BE which will be a significant upgrade to my current Athlon 64 X2 6400+ BE.
