So I just finished building a computer with the Intel Pentium G3258 and MSI H81M P33 Motherboard, and it's very confusing determining what version the BIOS I got is and was is required for the CPU and all that. What I want to know is, if the Motherboard's BIOS Version needs to be updated before I can use the G3258, will the computer even start up? Or will it boot and just not be able to go into BIOS?

Solution
If your BIOS isn't compatible with your CPU, then no, your system won't boot up (if you have the older than required version of the BIOS and your CPU isn't supported).

Motherboards ship from the factory with a BIOS or UEFI operating system that can handle modern hardware, but any hardware released after it ships is not guaranteed to work. Even new processors that fit into the motherboard’s CPU socket may not be compatible out of the box.

in msibios If this situation occurs, your computer will allow to go into BIOS but refuse to boot your operating system. The fix to this situation is simple, but a bit frustrating.

You’ll first have to Update your BIOS, go to your motherboard manufacturer’s website, and find the latest BIOS/UEFI version. Install it, and then try installing your new hardware again. and to boot your computer. Once you do so, you can boot your computer
