So im trying to build my first MATX pc and i was wondering if anyone knew if a V8 GTS cpu cooler will fit inside a Corsair 240 airflow case with a MSI Z97M GAMING MoBo ? Its industrial look and red leds are perfect for the look im going for. I cant do watercooler for the cpu cause the tubes would obstruct the top fans of the case so im looking for something else. Or does anyone have a cpu cooler in mind thats smaller and has LED's? And that is on sale in eastern europe? 😀
Any advice is apreciated,thx.

Update: i know that the case supports 120 mm cpu coolers and the v8 is 140mm. Is that a dealbraker or do you guys think that 20mm over is not necessarily going to be a problem and will just barely fit?

No. The CM V8 GTS has a total height of 166.5mm. The Corsair 240 only has a maximum CPU cooler clearance height of 120mm.

Maybe this will do: 115mm Height

It's not as great as the V8 GTS but, hey, this will fit.

Not only that, but if you're using some after market ram. Say corsair platinum s the heat sinks on those things or really any aftermarket ram can cause some clearance issues. If you don't have the ram situated correctly you're gonna have to move some bits around or take away one of the heat sinks.

Plus you're using a carbide case. I'd look into some water cooling solutions not necessarily a custom loop but maybe a closed loop cooler. Carbide 240 isn't exactly an air cooler friendly case. Seems a bit tight for my tastes. Though you'd probably have a streamlined source of air flow. Besides a cheap closed loop water cooler costs about the same less noise and more room. Granted theirs risks associated with whatever you choose.

The Enermax ETD-T60-VD looks great but it does not support the 1150 socket... i have an i7 4770 non k.

As for the V8,it seems like it wont be a problem with corsair vengeance ram cards so thats fine. The heat tubes are far above the ram slots thankfully.
Its just the damn height,im afraid the case window wont close -_- but the cooler looks so damn sweet that im considering leaving the side of the case open while i find a custom solution 😀

Well, if you're trying to get into serious water cooling i'd look at some of swift techs all in one (aio) coolers. The come with about the same sized rad's you can get on a closed loop cooler, and they cost more but. As the name says it comes with a pump an inbuilt rez in the rad and all of it's customizeable. So if you plan on getting a serious water cooling set up any time in the future. Or maybe you want to just add another rad later you can, replace the water block etc.

But an h105 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA66Z29F0630&cm_re=water_cooling-_-9SIA66Z29F0630-_-Product

This raijentek makes an aio water cooler with a fairly large block. Led's too different colors to match your build.

Use either of this (whichever will fit best in your case). Both of these have black/red theme complementing your interior and they have their pumps glowing with red led (breathing glow effect):

Well,i think i have an idea. Perhaps i can still get the V8 GTS and set the case sideways so that the window is facing up.Then i could customize the window lid a bit perhaps and set it on top and make it taller with something. I was thinking perhaps some light magnets? Tape on one side and naked on the bottom side of the magnet.
I just really want the V8 😀 Im sure ppl customize ther cases all the time, right? This does not sound like a huge hassle but i dont have the case on me yet so il know better when i see it.

But if it proves too bothersome or impossible,i will probably go with Deep Cool Captain 120 so thx raisonjohn.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make tha window lid taller for the Corsair 240 airflow case?
