 I have a Logitech Z623 Home Theater system linked below. The speakers are good but aren't that big, so I'm wondering how much of a difference if any would a dedicated sound card make? Can I expect a meaningful boost in the sound quality with my speaker system that it would make a worthy investment? If so, which sound card do you recommend?

Not with those speakers, the onboard ALC1220-VB & ESS SABRE 9118 DAC is about the best you're going to get out of them. Are you using the rear audio jack?

As far as addon cards go you would have to speed more than $150 to get better quality but you would also have to have a better input like a TOSLINK to notice any significant difference.

Yes I use the rear audio jack. I never heard of a toslink. What would I connect it to, the rear audio jacks? What about these sound cards linked below? They cost well over $150.

Both of those and the Sound Blaster Z are definitely better as far as sound quality goes but the question is are you going to hear a difference with those speakers? Honestly, I don't think you will, the Z623's are not that great to begin with.

😞 Well thats a bummer, and here I was thinking I bought something decent. I've been using this sound enhancement software below, so maybe that's whats been deceiving me. The difference with it off is like night and day. I can't imagine playing a game without it on. I guess I'll just be content with it until I can get better speakers.

I agree with Delaro. You need better speakers before you'd notice a better source. Also you're paying for a software EQ that you could do yourself for free.
