Hi, so I recently got a PS5 and I have an ASUS PG278QR 165hz 1440p monitor and it obviously displays 165hz at 1440p, little did I know that it wouldn’t support anything more than 60hz at 1080p for my PS5. I want to take advantage of the 120hz support on the PS5, but can’t do so without changing my monitor. I wondered if i used a Display Port to HDMI cable, that would somehow enable me to play at 1080p@120hz? I know this might be a stretch but I just wanted to know as I don’t know a lot about monitors and outputs etc.

Thank you!

Solution
No, G-Sync module monitors do not support display-side scaling over DisplayPort, which means all images must be transmitted at 1440p, it will not accept a 1080p signal over DisplayPort. Since the PS5 does not support 1440p, it will not work.

Only a PC can lower the resolution to 1080p on DisplayPort on these monitors, because they support GPU scaling where the GPU will scale the 1080p image to 1440p before transmitting it.
