Hi

I have a DP to HDMI adaptor as I only have one DP port on my monitor but two DP sources (Work and Home PC's).

Lately the DP to HDMI adaptor has been going a bit haywire (flickering, lots of pink artefacts and pink lines). It's calmed down now but i can still see here and there a pixel or two flickering pink/magenta. It's worse with dark colours/dark areas and invisible when displaying lighter colours.

I have tested other HDMI sources and they're fine, narrowing it down to the adaptor itself.

The obvious answer is replacing it, but i'm trying to get mileage out of this one as it is still relatively useable (mass pink artefacts/garbage are rare occurences).

Will using a faulty adaptor damage the monitor in any way?

Hello,

i dont think so, only way of damaging it would be from my perspective, different voltages on different places(shortage) but other than that i dont see any reason. But why risk it, when the adaptor itself costs a few euros, at least you could sleep calmly. 😃
