Hi people,

I have been given a Asus A73s laptop with a i7-2670qm 2.2 chip in it.
The mobo is fried and i was wondering if i could use the chip in my sons emachine E732-382G50Mnkk i3-380m
The Asus is an FCPGA988 chip but my sons eMachine uses a PGA988 chipset.
Can I use the i7 my sons computer?

Cheers for the help

Solution
FC stands for "flip-chip", which is what all modern CPUs are. PGA988 is the same as FCPGA988, the FC is often just left off.

It did slot in but would only power for a second before it stopped. I don't think the power supply is sufficient to run it 🙁

I put the i3 back in and everything is working fine so i was lucky there
