Will a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 be compatible with a AMD FX-8150?

Solution

From the gigabyte website you may know they said they are compatible, but the PC can run stable or not that is other story because that MB has only 4+1 power phase (VRM) that is not good for the fx 8 series cpu even you don't OC. Here the link for most MB VRM info. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AgN1D79Joo7tdE9xMUFlMEVWeFhuckJEVF9aMmtpUFE&gid=0

You need get the MB has at least 4+2 or high VRM plus with heatsinked on it, like crispinsaro recommend asus m5a97, or GA-970A-UD3P, etc. You can the right MB from the link I add. Otherwise get the fx6300 with the GA-78LMT-USB3.

It does support it however I wouldn't recommend that motherboard for that type of CPU if you want a decent motherboard for that CPU I would go for the Asus M5A97 series however if you want to keep at a low price range then choose the asrock 970 pro 3 or above.
I can give you a list of components on part picker but you would have to give me a budget and your pc usage. Hope this info helps!

Yeah, my wife's PC is running that combination perfectly. I just wish it had UEFI. I like the build quality of the board and she is not a hardcore gamer(plays games like Plants VS Zombies and Angry Birds) and so, memory speeds aren't important to her. I built myself a mini-ITX FM3+ build; an A10 7850k, R9-280X, Gigabyte F2A88X...and the build quality of the board she has is every bit as solid/ good as my ITX board, but it doesn't support the 2400mhz memory that my board and CPU does. If you plan on gaming, the FX8150 has a 1866mhz memory controller, so get a board that matches that speed natively, preferably.
