My question is just as the title states. I have a Radeon HD 7950 w/ Boost and I was curious if I could use a GPU only water block instead of a full cover.

I would get FULL block if I was you.

The 7950 and 7970 are known to have VRMs that get very very hot. I myself have had a 7970 die due to overheating VRMs.
The small price difference is not worth risking the whole card. Get the full cover block.

Thanks for the response I would definitely not want to kill my card over that.
