Will a graphics card speed up my system?

I have a Intel Pentium E2160. Its fairly slow but I want to game with it. By getting a graphics card, will it speed up my computer and gaming? Thanks.

You really will not be able to do any real type of gaming on that processor. You can try but I think more often then not you are going to be disappointing. Why dont you give us the specs of your whole system. And how much money you are hoping to put into this gaming project. Maybe there are options for you.

My computer is Acer Aspire M1640.

I'm just asking if I get a graphics card, will my computer run faster.

It would improve gaming slightly. As long as you are not trying to play anything to new. Older games...WoW or something like that. It would overall increase performance depending on that gpu you got. Anything that replaces the onboard graphics would be an improvement.

I'm getting the Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB. And the game that I will mostly be playing is Team Fortress 2.
