Question Will a graphics card with a normal PCIe x16 connector be compatible with a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot?

I was recently going to upgrade my current computer with a Radeon RX570 graphics card but it unfortunately didn't fit so I decided to build a new computer. It has the PCIe x16 connector and all of the motherboards I'm looking at have PCIe 3.0 x16 ports and I was wondering if they'd be compatible.
