[SOLVED] Will a GTX 960 with i5-2300 on Asus H61 lx r2.0 run using PCIe 3.0 or 2.0?

I have a old 2nd gen Lenovo motherboard with core i5 2300 pulled from a Thinkcenter m81 on which I am trying to use Zotac GTX 960 2gb that isn't working on this mobo don't know why maybe PCIe x16 slot is faulty or the mobo doesn't support.
So, I am planning to buy a used Asus H61 LX R2.0 mobo that support both intel 2nd & 3rd gen cpu & have PCIe 3.0 Slot.
Now my question is that my GPU & Mobo both have PCIe 3.0 but my cpu is PCIe 2.0. Will my GPU be going to perfom using 3.0 or 2.0?
