Will a GTX 970 Bottleneck a I5 7600K

just wanted to know if the 970 will bottleneck because i am upgrading the cpu and im not upgrading the gpu until a later date

Not sure if I understand what you mean, but an i5-7600K and a GTX 970 will run fine together.

If i'm reading it right, you already have the GTX970, and are upgrading to a 7600k, can you confirm what your current hardware specs are?

The GTX 970 has been superceded by the newer hardware, and you really are better off with something a bit more modern, especially if it has more VRAM.

I have a GTX970 and it is good enough for 1080p gaming, at 2560x1080 I start seeing the limitations of the 3.5gb VRAM, and at 2560x1440 it gets annihilated by my wife's R9 390 8GB.

At 1080p it is now competing with the Rx470 4GB (which technically has the same amount of VRAM, but all 4gb of it is at full speed it seems) and can be had at some ridiculously cheap prices, making a second hand 970 seem not so good of a deal.

The GTX1060 6GB would be where I would be looking, or an 8GB Rx470/480 model if you can stretch your budget to any of these.

However any bottleneck on the noted configuration should be small at 1920x1080, and the resulting FPS should be seen as adequate (as in, averaging around or above 50-60FPS)

I'm a power user, and a graphics whore. So if you're content turning some options down a bit the performance should be fine.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend upgrading the GTX 970 to a GTX 1060, unless of course you are gaming at 1440p or higher. I actually did that myself when the GTX 1060's were released, except I only game at 1080p. I had an ASUS Strix GTX 970, which could overclock to 1500+MHz. That overclock put it on par with a GTX 1060. Now, I could overclock the GTX 1060 and get a slightly higher score than my GTX 970 could achieve, but the increase in performance from the overclock wasn't as great with the 1060 as it was with the 970. So it all depends on your resolution and how far you can overclock your GTX 970, if you even overclock at all.

the i5 7600 speed improvements are nominal over the i5 4570 and there is not bottle neck between 4570 and GTX 970 so I doubt there will bee one with the 7600

Absolutely agreed, my opinion on 970 vs 1060/rx470 was only if he didn't already own a gtx970, and for anyone else that might be reading this.

The current upgrade path from a GTX 970 would only really be;

GTX 1070/1080/Titan XP (or the mythical 1080ti)

on a lesser scale.. The r9 Fury X, I guess.. But the newer tech is faster and uses less power.
