Personally, I wouldn't recommend upgrading the GTX 970 to a GTX 1060, unless of course you are gaming at 1440p or higher. I actually did that myself when the GTX 1060's were released, except I only game at 1080p. I had an ASUS Strix GTX 970, which could overclock to 1500+MHz. That overclock put it on par with a GTX 1060. Now, I could overclock the GTX 1060 and get a slightly higher score than my GTX 970 could achieve, but the increase in performance from the overclock wasn't as great with the 1060 as it was with the 970. So it all depends on your resolution and how far you can overclock your GTX 970, if you even overclock at all.
