but the amd website says that it requires a minimum power supply of 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended ??? 😛
I had 7770hd and i was running 4 cores pcu with 450 w psu. Also the 7770 needs at least 450w,so i guess you wont have any problem.Tell me your pc specs and ill suggest a cheap psu.
If your PC components are all at stock ,, you can run it. But u will be at your power supply's limits and if ur PSU is getting old or something so that its efficiency is lower u may experience some problem with it. That's why they put 500 instead of lower PSU to make sure that the GPU will run normally and with a safe margin from the PSU limits
The 6950 pulls 200W plus. Your CPU is 125W I believe. 325W not counting any other parts or overclocking. that corsair is only rated 400W on the 12V. Obviously not a very bright idea.
And as for people comparing the 7770 to a 6950, that's an 80W card. They don't know what they are talking about.
The 7850 is as fast or faster, lower heat, noise, better drivers, and only uses 130W. That leaves sufficient room that the PSU should be fine if you aren't going crazy with the rest of the, system (i.e. 6 hardrives, a dozen fans, etc)
I own a Gigabyte Radeon HD 6950 1GB that I modded to full shaders (1536 - HD6970 spec) and was able to get a stable 920MHz core clock speed (default 6950 core speed is 800MHz) and at best my card is still about as fast as a Radeon HD7850 while using close to twice the power.
Personally, my advice to you would be to try and get the Radeon 7850. At this point it honestly just doesn't make sense to buy two year old hardware and on top of that you're very unlikely to get the same kind of success that I did with my 6950. Even if you do, you're still voiding the warranty like I did. Get the 7850, you'll be a lot happier with your purchase if you do.
