I've had this cpu for a long time, and it works great with the 750ti, but now the 750ti isn't supported and lags a lot on games now, i'd like ti get a gtx1080 to get a power boost, would it bottleneck it? would i need to get a new cpu?
I know its new but i'd just like a few pointers, thanks

Solution
I saw cases where i3 was paired with 980ti without any bottlenecks, the term bottleneck is used wrong mostly. I think you'll be fine, it basically depends on the operations you do, games? Depends if game is GPU intensive or CPU intensive, i5 4460 is a good processor and should run GTX 1080 just fine.
Hy. I think that the i5 does not have enough horse power, to power up something above a GTX 980. So i think that s the max what you can put in it, without bottleneck. Or, if you think that s a little overpriced, you should consider buying a GTX 970, it s not much of a difference between theese 2 gpus.

Just wait a little bit more, amd announced the RX 480, a performance of a 970 for a price of a 960. It will be 200$, and it will start shipping in June 29th.
