I have bought a i5-6600k with the misconception that it DOES come with a stock cooler, I found out it did not and have gotten a cheap cooler till I can get a water cooler that fits in my case. My question however is, will the Cooler Master DP6-9EDSA-0L-GP
( found here
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003H5BPCM/?tag=pcpapi-20 )
be able to keep the i5-6600k safe till my water cooling gets here? Also I will not be overclocking the CPU till the water cooler will get here.
Sorry if there is errors, its my first time on a forum.
No. The 6600K is a 91W CPU and that is a 82W cooler. That is also a socket 775 cooler and the 6600K is a socket 1151.
Compatible with 65W 775 sockets
1. The socket is compatible. You have to look it up elsewhere (1150 is compatible with 1151)

2. You can't just say "it's a 91W" cooler and won't work. It will work, and worst-case is he has to downclock and/or disable TURBO in the BIOS while waiting for his liquid cooler to arrive.
The CPU can also downclock or even turn off the computer to protect itself in a worst-case scenario.
He can test temperatures and diagnose with:
Intel diagnostic:

The Intel diagnostic ramps up for a short time to test the calculations are correct, AND that the cooler isn't overheating.
Core Temp: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
Just leave that running while you play a game or do other demanding task of the CPU. Ideally you want less than about 75degC but that's just optimal lifespan of the CPU. It can go higher, and even 90degC isn't likely to damage it over a short time.
