Hi,

Im looking at upgrading my CPU from an i5 6600k to a 6700/7700k but i dont know if it will support the 7700k and if so , is there any point in getting it over the 6700k?

I know its probably better to get a new motherboard and get the 8700k or a ryzen but that would take me ages to get that sort of money.

Current pc-
GPU-gigabyte RTX 2070
CPU-i5 6600k
motherboard- Asus b150m-c

Yes, your mobo will support the 7700/k. As long as you have bios 3016 installed, it should work fine.

Getting the 7700k give you the higher clockspeed, and for most games that will push a few more FPS from your 2070. Either will do fine though. The 6700 is only 5-10% behind the 7th gen 7700/k. Your mobo can't OC the 'k' suffix CPU's so getting a vanilla 6700/7700 without the k might save a couple of quid.
