You're forgetting the fundamentals in overclocking. Cpuboss's comparison is comparing the 920 @ 2.66GHz. @ 4GHZ however is a completely different ball game.
and the i3 beats the 920 when the 920 is not overclocked, so im saying the 920 would be a about as good as an i3 but not an i5. You could also overclock an i3.
yeah it probably will for some games, but not for less cpu intensive games. That CPU is a bit less powerful than the i3-4160 according to some benchmarks. If it is overclocked it will probably equal the 4160. If you are spending that much on graphics cards then you may as well upgrade your CPU.

Modern I3's are not overclockable, Although they have a better single core performance they are not quad cores like the I7 920 which will help it in CPU intensive gaming!
