Hi

Was wondering, keeping all components identical(ie ram, hdds, processor etc),
Will there be any difference at all in graphics or high defination videos or sound for that matter , using an identical GPU and a sound card in motherboards having the same chipset from entry level to the highest end. eg P8PH61-M TO P8P67-PRO.

thanks.

As long as the chipset is common, then performance between various motherboards will be very similar. There will be minor differences.

However, typically, more expensive boards will provide more OC tools and capabilities than less expensive boards. The higher priced boards may also have better heatsinks, etc.

also if there are 4 sata II and 2 sata III, and all the 4 hdds and 2 dvd drives are sataII , connected to the sata III we will just get a 3 gb/s rather than 6gb/s meaning the sata III is backward compatible right.

great, this basically means for a htpc using a mid range gpu and a decent sound card with a entry level mother board say the H61 instead of either the H67 or P67 , the performance will be the same.

Hi,
well i am amazed ,as i too thought a high tec motherboard would make a world of difference ,but having just installed sabertooth 996fx motherboard ,it does not seem to improved any thing over the cheaper Asus board i removed ,well we live and learn, best wishes Brian.
