Will a new 970 GTX be a bottleneck for my aging Rig?

Hey all. My rig is a few years old, including a 580 GTX, i5 i2500k @3.3ghz & 8 gb of RAM.

I'm interested in a 970 GTX, but I'm wondering if it's worth it with my older CPU etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Solution
the i5 2500k is still a top tier gaming CPU and will match up just fine with the GTX 970. I would however suggest you overclock your CPU to 4.2-4.5Ghz the Hyper 212 plus will have no problem keeping it cool enough at those clock rates.

no, the 2500k is still a beast. you have a hyper 212 plus.... have you overclocked the 2500k? either way, overclocking wont net you any gaming performance, maybe 5%. otherwise there is no known gpu configuration you could run that the 2500k would bottleneck.

Wow, ok cool. I haven't been keeping up with tech over the past year or so, wasn't sure how it still stood up.

I haven't overclocked the CPU, been running it stock.
