Will a PAL DVCAM tape work in a NTSC DVCAM carmera?

I've done some searching and haven't found a definitive answer to
this. I have a Sony PD150 Dvcam camera and I would like to get some
footage off of some PAL Dvcam tapes via firewire. Is this do-able at
all? Thanks

Some equipment will play and/or record in both standards.
Unless the equipment SPECIFICALLY states that it does
both PAL and NTSC, it is safe to assume that it won't.
Dual-standard is a desirable feature and you can be sure
that equipment makers that have it will flaunt it.
For example the Sony DSR-11 does both PAL and NTSC.

I was thinking, even if it is an NTSC camera, the firewire is just a
file transfer, so it is maybe possible? Unless of course the camera
recognises it as a PAL tape and rejects it.

Doubt that it could hurt anything to try anyway.

Or more likely doesn't recognize an NTSC pattern and
rejects the tape. NTSC and PAL video are encoded
differently in DV and written differently on the tape
(like a different tape speed, etc.)

Don't get your hopes up.

Oh... really?

I thought a bit of logic might be helpful.
He answered his question in his post.

Most video editors will accept either PAL or NTSC video.
