Will a PCI Express 3.0 x16 Graphics Card work in PCI Express x16?

Are you sure because I fix it on motherboard in PCI-EX slot I change power supply I bought one 750 W because my old one doesn't have a 6pin adaptor I open the pc it works but I don't have any signal in display. And when I put my old graphic card it works perfect Why it happens this

PCI-E is backwards compatible, so a 3.0 card will work fine in any PCI-e x16 slot. If it's not working then it could be lots of different things. Bad PSU, bad GPU, if your other card works then the PCI-E slot is working. We would need to know more about your full setup.

Sorry for my english but i am from GREECE. I go back the graphic card to the store and front of my eyes they puted in an another pc and Works perfect. I puted in my pc a lot of times and nothing hapens. My pc Works and the fan of the card but there is no signal on display even no laser light on Mouse. I put again my old graphic card and it Works perfect. I have one pci-express slot so the slot Works. My psu is 750 W and my old gpu is NVIDIA GEforce 8600 GTS. I am getting crazy!!!Please help!! :/

I'm going to have to apologize for not looking really deep into this. When the 3.0 PCIe cards came out it was said everything was backwards compatible and everyone just kinda went with it.

You are right and that card, and all AMD 7000 series are NOT compatible with PCIe 1 and 1.1, only 3.0 and 2.0. This is due to the electrical interface that makes these cards very power efficient not being present in PCIe 1.0 and 1.1.

So to fully answer the question now, that specific card will not work with that MB, you'll have to get a MB with at least PCIe 2.0 or a nVidia card.

All motherboards i am looking the said only pci express x16 and no one said the version. How i know whitch have version 2.0 or 3.0? Do you have any MB to sugest?

What price range are you looking at? It's petty rare to find a new MB that isn't at least PCIe 2.0, at least here in the US on places like newegg.com and tigerdirect.com, also those sites will give you more info on a MB when looking at them, letting you know if they're 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever.

As you're in Greece I'm unsure about where you are getting your parts from.

Well here's the issues that you'll be running into if you want to keep that video card. IF you can find a MB with a Socket 775 (for your CPU) AND a PCIe 2.0 or higher, then it'll probably be used as no one really keeps them in stock anymore. I've looked for a while and can't find any on the net, sorry man. On top of that it would probably be DDR3 RAM and your current MB uses DDR2, which I'm assuming you currently have on hand.

Your best option would be to return the GPU you have and get a nVidia card, probably like a GTX 550 or 650 and use them in your current setup.

Also keep in mind that with pretty much any CPU you could be running, a GTX 550 would probably out preform your CPU in most newer games unless you happen to be running X9770 extreme, which at $1,400 US I'm assuming not lol.

So as I see it your options are to buy a different GPU that will work in a 1.0 slot, or use the 7770 and buy a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM for it.
