Will a pcie 2.0 8x (in a 16x) support 3.0 16x graphics card

I currently have a SuperMicro Motherboard x8dtn and I'd like to upgrade my older Nvidia Quaddro FX3800 to a new Nvidia Quaddro M5000 card... The motherboard PCI-e slot is a 2.0 8x (in a 16x slot) but the new card is a 3.0 PCI-e 16x... will the new card work in my motherboard? AND, if it will work, will it still utilize the full capacity of the new M5000's processing power?....Thanks!

A 3.0 x16 card will work in a 2.0 x16 slot yes.
