As I was shutting down my computer, a power outage came as the screen was going black. I was just wondering if that will harm my SSD and I have a surge protector.

Solution
If your OS is in the process of writing data at the time of power loss - your OS can be corrupted. Unless something has also happened to your PSU, your ssd will still work even if the data has been corrupted. You may need to reinstall your OS

It just depends..it is possible yes but not likely in my experience. If your PSU is of decent quality it will have surge protection built in. Best way to see if your ssd is damaged is just try to boot...see what happens. If it boots normally, then you are good to go. Crystaldiskinfo is a great program as well to monitor the health of your drives.
