Will a primary monitor to my laptop decrease performance?

Hello I plan to get a laptop with a 60hz Tn display, I plan to connect the laptop with a DisplayPort to a 144hz 1ms display. (Note I am gonna turn off the laptop screen and make the monitor my primary screen) I want to know when gaming, will I still get a 144hz experience? And will I still get a 1ms experience? Both the laptop and monitor are 1080p!

that depends entirely on the GPU in the laptop. is it fast enough to run the desired resolution and refresh?
the GPU will need to render over twice the images for the screen every second compared to the laptop screens built-in refresh

Even If I have my laptop screen off?

Hertz=HZ=per second. if you force the GPU to output 144hz it will need to render 84 extra images per second. 144-60=84
if you cap the game to 60hz or frames per second the performance will be the same, there will be no added stress to the GPU as the workload will not change.

this depends again on the games in question. if you are playing cs:go and getting 250FPS then the change will not be noticeable.
if you are currently getting 95FPS in a game then you will notice the difference when you ask for 144 from the GPU.
