Will a Sapphire r9 270x play ball with the corsair 550w VX PSU

Hi guys
Just ordered a r9 270x 2GB OC. I have been running an 8800GT but wanted a little more oomph.
I upgraded my PSU a few years back with a 550w Corsair VX which can be found here

Can someone just confirm it's safe to run on my 550w PSU? I had read one Amazon review for this item where they claimed that the card made the 500w PSU on their computer fry.

Yes it's safe.
In worst case it won't work because your PSU can be old for it (in time the PSU lost some power).

Hi Xill, I've only had the CPU unit for a few years, but fingers crossed!
Thanks for your answer though - is there a more suitable GPU i should consider for my system at this price point?

Maybe for a little more money: r9 280(more memory and wider memory bus but your PSU won't enough for this).

Looks like my PSU is pretty well rated by most people, hopefully the fact its 3 years old wont work too much against it!

Hi guys, I cancelled the order in the end as i read a few amazon remarks that this GPU blew out 500w PSU's
I am only a 550w PSU but i assume as it is indeed a Corsair and it comes highly commended for performance it should be safe...but im scared to risk it!

Any advice would be welcomed!
