I want to get a sata 1.0 SSD for my old pc that runs windows 7, but I don't know if it will really make a difference in speed from IDE to Sata 1.0. Will it speed up that old pc?

1st generation consumer-grade SSDs were released in 2008.

Do not buy a 1st generation SSD just because you have a pc with a old motherbard/chipset.

Newer SSDs have more stable firmware and have better TRIM and Garbage Collection algorithms.

Also, I doubt that you will find any 1st generation SSDs that are "new".

Here's a 120GB SATA 3 (6Gb/s) SSD that you can get for $55.

If you're willing to gamble on a Manufacturer Recertified SSD then you can get a 120GB drive for $50.

Either one would be way better than a 1st gen SSD.
