Will a Sata 3 hard drive work on my motherboard?

I think my motherboard is sata 2 but im not too sure, thanks!

SATA 3 hard drives are backwards compatible with SATA/SATA 2, you will be limited to the speed of SATA 2 with your motherboard ofc.
