Will a SSD speed up recording?

So I am using dxtory at the minute using lossless lagarith codec, however during recording it often dips to the low 50s and then back up. I was wondering if I were to get a crucial MX100, currently on sale (black friday):

would that eliminate any frame drops on the recording side of things as well as allow me to record at a better quality?
(I currently have to record at 85% quality to just about maintain 60fps.
(current recording drive is a caviar black 7200rpm drive, with a write speed of 172mb/s)

Hey there, Whatisgoingonherethen!

You should consider the capacity of the storage you need for recording. The better the quality of the recordings, the more capacity you will need to store them.
As for write/read speed I believe there's no HDD that can outperform an SSD, but I'm afraid with recording gameplay it's slightly different due to the fact that you will be writing constantly.
I'd suggest to check out this thread for more info on the SSD as a recording drive:

Sorry you are not satisfied with the WD Black though. 🙁

Good luck!

I have a caviar blue with OS & apps, where i run the game.
A western digital 1tb with 4gb used, 990gb+ remaining and I use that solely for recording. I use task manager to close down every application I am not using. So It is definitely not on my end. Seems like the WD Black cant perform/keep up :/ Despite everyone telling me on the forum that it would cope perfectly fine -.-

Dont worry, you're not the one who spent £50 for a product which doesnt suffice...despite all the "tech experts" telling me it would..
I will be transferring files after each session to my western digital black drive, (just so I can make some us of it), & then deleting them off the ssd to preserve precious space.
