Will a this be sufficient?

i am prety much getting a new pc besides a hard drive and PSU and i am wondering if this dvd writer: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008X0TX0W?keywords=external%20dvd%20drive&qid=1448559642&ref_=sr_1_3&sr=8-3
would be ok for things such as installation disks or movies it needs to be external as my case does not have a slot for an internal one.

the main reason i need it is for the windows install disk aswell as some games i have on disk

It is meant to run those disks,it's been Made to Run those disks.
Just get it,and run those disks.

my main concern was that if theres no windows on the computer would still recognise the external dvd writer things like that, this is my 2nd time building a pc and i had an internal dvd writer then, thanks for the reply
