[SOLVED] Will adding a 1Gbit/s PCIe card increase download speeds from Steam?

Hello!

I have fibre internet at around 70 ish MB/s. Steam only ever downloads things at max 9.4MB/s. Is this because the onboard networking on my MOBO can only accept 9.4MB/s or is it another reason? Will adding a newtwork card and plugging my ethernet cable into that increase download speeds?

The overall speed comes from your ISP.

Now we get into megabits vs megabytes.
Your ISP reports in megabits. Here, 70Mb/s.
Steam reports in megabytes. Here, 9.4 MB/s.

Note the small b vs big B.
Megabits - megabytes.
8:1 ratio.

9.4 * 8 = 75.

You are getting exactly (even a little over) what you should be.

There is nothing to fix, nothing to add.

What performance do you get from speedtest.net ?
9 MB/s is approximately 100Mbit/s
