Will adding RAM decrease pagefile size?

Looking to try to be as optimized as possible and was wondering of I installed more ram if my pagefile size could be reduced. I'm running 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz, and I noticed my pagefile size is the same as my RAM. I'd rather have my system using the RAM rather than pagefile, but not sure if that's optimal or recommended.

Solution

Yes, you can safely reduce pagefile size. Set it to 500MB initial, 8000MB max.

You can use Performance monitor to find out, how much % of pagefile actually is being used.
With large amount of ram it will be used very little.

Note. Under no circumstances do not disable pagefile (even if you have plenty of ram). Disabling pagefile will cause number of virtual memory errors.
