I'm glad I asked now. That does make sense, Nismo1. I was only thinking about buying the ares set because its on sale at the moment. But if buying an identical set of the ripjaws means a better chance of working together then I'll go for those. I would buy a 4x4 or a 2x8 kit if I had something to do with the currently installed memory.
Whatever you do the odds is in your favor, even with ares the change of working is higher than of not working. What I was trying to do was to prepare you for any outcome! DDR3 memories are more selective
Oh, I misunderstood you slightly. However, I think I will wait around black friday and see if I can pick up another set of ripjaws for cheaper.
Thanks for the input!
Let's use numbers
. I'm trying to prove a point so these are not entirely accurate .
1) Ares-ripjaws change of working lets say 85%
2) old ripjaws-new ripjaws change of working lets say 95%
3) new kit of ripjaws change of working 100% ( if not you use report the problem to gskill and they give you new ones
)
I repeat the numbers are kinda random . I hope you see my point now
