I'm wondering if I buy an lga 1150 cooler it will fit on an lga 1150 motherboard or if I need to be more specific. Its smaller than my last fan so dimensions shouldn't be a problem. Also my last fan used those Intel plastic pop in pin plugs and this new one uses screws, will that be a problem?
Thanks.

It will be fine if the sockets match. What is the exact motherboard and cooler you are looking at?

Basically where the mistake is usually made, is people assume that a CPU made for a 1155 socket. is compatible with any 1155 motherboard for example, which isn't strictly true.

When it comes to coolers however, the socket is what determines compatibility, a 1150 socket cooler, is made for 1150 socket motherboards, thats partially...

When it comes to coolers however, the socket is what determines compatibility, a 1150 socket cooler, is made for 1150 socket motherboards, thats partially what the socket number is determining.

This is assuming the cooler fits in your case around your other components.
