Will am3 coolers work on socket A?

so im building a windows 98se machine for old games and my stock cpu cooler is like a hair dryer... i need a new one so i was wondering if am3/am2 coolers would work on my Socket A motherboard (asus A7V133) it has the same type of clip on both sides mechanism but im not sure if its the right size but it looks right so i was wondering if anyone either tried it or knows if it will work thanks!

Chances are that it probably won't work. Honestly, in this day and age, if I wanted a Win98 box I'd just virtualize it on my primary desktop, since that's a lot less painful than trying to scrape together compatible hardware that isn't likely to explode/fail catastrophically.

well my machine runs great and virtualizing it inst an option for many games because of directx errors and many other things that wont allow games to run and a few games that need the cd to be inserted to play wont detect the disk...
