[SOLVED] Will AMD A10-7890k work on MSI MS-7778?

Hi all,

This is my first post on the forum! I am wondering if I get a AMD A-10 7890k will it work on my MSI MS-7778 motherboard. They are both socket type FM2 I am just wondering if there is any other reason they would not be compatible with each other? Thanks in advance for all of the help and answers!

From looking at the motherboard - the only suitable link I found to supported CPUs is here: https://www.game-debate.com/motherboard/index.php?mot_id=1982&cpuList=MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine) and the 7890K is not included i'm afraid.

It will not. The 7890K is FM2+ which doesn't work in a FM2 motherboard. Also according to the specs on the computer the best CPU you can get in it is the A10-5800K https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03343058

Right now I have a AMD A8-5500, would that AMD A10 5800k even be worth it to upgrade to or am I better off buying a newer mini and get a new cpu from there. I am on a budget and did not want to spend a ton of money but if the 5800K just doesn’t make sense then it doesn’t make sense ya know? Thanks for any help and input!

I am working in adobe premier making videos and I would like to add I tried to save a short 1 minute video and the program crashed wiping all of my work. The cpu loaf was showing 100% what would you suggest?

The difference between the two is clock speed with the A10 have a 600MHz higher base clock and a 1GHz higher boost clock. You would be better served with a new system than doing that minor upgrade on a 6-7 year old system.
