Swap the 760K for the 750K. All I see from the 760K is an unstable CPU compared to the 750K which is a trusted budget CPU. And it saves you some money as well.

To answer your original question, it will work just fine without bottlenecks.

Every single person I've spoken to who had a 760k had nothing but bad things to say about it. The ones who returned it and got a 750k were much happier. I haven't tried them first hand but from what I've heard and also read in reviews says that they run too hot and aren't very stable, especially on the stock cooler.

Runs hot regardless on any cooler. Stock coolers aren't all that bad depending on which one it is, but I will agree that aftermarket coolers are better in any case. For someone on a tight budget it makes far less sense to go and buy a $35 cooler for a 760K when you can get a 750K which is known to run cooler anyways and OC it a little bit, or run it at stock. The 0.4 GHz increase really won't mean a whole lot when gaming though on a CPU like the Athlon 750K.

I am not a fan of the FM2 chips to begin with. A Phenom II X4 is faster, clock for clock.

I'm not either. I try to recommend at least an FX-6300 but if someone's on a really tight budget I throw the Athlon 750K out there as an option. It's a shame the AM3+ platform is so dead in terms of new hardware. AMD has a lot of potential for Intel competitors when it comes to CPUs but instead they are focusing more on the FM2/FM2+ platform and APUs. Apparently they aren't even going to make new Athlon CPUs for the FM2+ socket.

I would probably consider a Pentium G as a placeholder and get a better CPU later. At least the upgrade path would be there if you went with a Haswell one.
