Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone could help me.

I'm trying to find a new processor for my RM Ecoquiet 780 machine but I'm not entirely sure what processors will work.

I know that the motherboard is an AP480C-S/RM manufactured by PEGATRON INC. and, if it is like the AP480C-S motherboards, it should take AMD Athlon64/ Sempron/ Athlon 64 X2/ AM2+CPU/ Phenom processors.

Now, what I am wondering is if this would also include an AMD Phenom X4 quad core 9850 like this one

If not which processor would I be best off buying for my machine.

Thanks for your time.

If you click on spoiler it should show you the full information that is hidden. I hoped it would it would reduce the post size until revealed but it doesn't seemed to have worked. I will go back and remove the spoiler tags.

If you don't see a bios file on pegatron's website, then you're out of luck. I can't get their website to load. They've been out of the motherboard business for awhile. I was also checking ebay and don't see any there except hp models made for hp and asus by pegatron. You don't want to flash the wrong bios file or use a generic flash program in the hope that you will be able to run a faster cpu. Many of those boards have a limit of 89 watts for the cpu. If the 9850 is less than 89 watts, then it might work. Good luck.

As near as I can tell, if the board supports AMD2+, and like o1die says, the voltage is low enough, it should work. But AMD2+ only supports DDR2, so you'd loose out a little by not being able to run DDR3. But according to AMD site, only the 910e is low enough wattage. Several X2's and, interestingly enough, a couple X6's use less than 90.
