Will an AMD Quad core A8 processor run minecraft and other relatively intense games well?

just a AMD A8 APU will run Minecraft, RIFT, Mabinogi, WoW and a few others all on low pretty well just do not go heavy into texture modding minecraft and/or moding anything for that matter as mods will put on more load and slow it down much more than it is worth doing.

Minecraft is an intensive CPU game if you a) generate a too big of a world and b) if you play with draw distance maxed out. Regardless, an A8 will handle Minecraft like a champ.

About other intensive games, what do you have in mind ?

Which A8 APU are you talking about?

The A8-7xxx series is based on AMD's Kaveri generation architecture which means it has a decently powerful enough processing power (for an APU) and the graphics core is generally better the Intel HD 4400 depending on exactly which model you are looking at.

The A8-6xxx series is on AMD's Beema generation architecture which is a lower cost APU that is the successor to the Jaguar cores used in lower end laptops. The performance of these APUs is less compared to the A8-7xxx series and the graphic core is less powerful than the Intel HD 4400.

Regardless, the A8-6410 APU can run Minecraft. Below is a link to a short video of that game running on the A8-6410. Actual performance is higher because recording while playing a game eats up some of the processor's performance.

yes it will run it no problem at relatively high settingsbut if you are looking at running intensive games like farcry 4 you need to be looking at investing if your not on a laptop a dedictaed gpu like the r7 270 to achieve a good performance in high end games. As an experienced APU using they are manly designed for low end games like minecraft and HD videos but with the edition of a dedicated graphics card it will run well and without a problem nearly any game (as long as its a high end gpu like the r7 270).

@Cryio yes i know minecraft is very heavy on the CPU just the A8 series isnt thta good at single threaded games

@Greenpedro5 how would a r7 270 help a laptop? that is a desktop graphics card and will not fit into a laptop. There is a mobile equevent to it probably but the gpu in laptops are not able to be upgraded without changeing out the entire motherboard of the laptop.

with minecraft if you mod it with a ton of graphics mods then maybe you will need to look a little higher but as long as you keep it reasonable minecraft will run fine and many other single threaded games and applications will run well.

Did not realise it was a laptop cpu in honesty. Yeah if he was looking for the equivalant it would really sky rocket his price. Yumri is right it would be able to handle it fine minecraft anyway but if you were looking for more intensive games a more expensive laptop with a dedicated graphics card would be in order but it wont be cheap if you look at that option.
