Hello everybody, I know this is an dumb question, but here it is.

My friend is making his PC, he has an pretty big TV, he wants to buy better parts with the money for an monitor.

He used an ChromeCast, and I think it is HDMI 2.0 .

So, can he use an HDMI 1.4 cable in an HDMI 2.0 TV?

Here in Romania HDMI 2.0 are more expensive than HDMI 1.4 cables, and he has an super tight budget.

Thanks in advance. :)

Solution
No such thing as an HDMI 2 cable.
Marketing plot.

An hdmi cable is an HDMI cable full stop, there are varying degrees of quality in cables but no differing standard.

Ports can be different hdmi revisions, cables are not.

Hdmi 2 is backwards compatible anyway so it makes no odds, hdmi ports can carry 40k 60htz, hdmi 1.4 ports can only carry 4k 30htz
