Looking into getting an i3, will it run Arma 3? Currently I am thinking about buying a FX-6300 or Athlon II X3 450.
Current Build (without processor)

Should I just stick with an AMD Processor? (it's a budget build). Thanks!

Arma 3, Wargame: ALB and RD, Coh:2 Western Front Armies, thats about the most intensive stuff I'll be playing. Besides that it's Garry's Mod and Half Life.

Solution

I think I'll use elements from this, though the motherboard uses an older chipset, thanks for everyones help, have a nice night.

I'd say that you should get the 6300. The Athlon will not be good, considering that it is a bit outdated. I wouldn't go for that unless i'm on a budget

Looking at your build I see that you have a high priced case and more RAM then is actually needed. I would go ahead and get 4gbs RAM and like a $30 - $40 case and put the extra money toward a better card. a R9 270x is a better purchase for the money you'd save if you take my advice with the case and the RAM. You could also get an OS for free if you want 😉 that's totes what i'd do.

the older chipset is fine, it just means you cant run two GPUs alongside (effectively). But don't expect to do any overclocking on the LE version of the M5a97 board, to leave the OC option open for the future I would get at least an M5a97 R2.0 (non LE version)

Do you mean Steam OS or Linux?

And that case is incorrect, I'm actually getting a NZXT Source 210.

Go fo the FX-6300. This CPU is going to bottleneck your graphics video card and the game will need to poorly the quality of the engine (mechanics, rendering, system...).
