Will an i5 4440 fit in i3 550 motherboard?

I am looking to upgrade my computer. But I'm not sure if AN i5 4440 processor fit in an i3 550 motherboard. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

No , that i5 CPU will not work in Your 1156 motherboard , You will need to buy a 1150 Motherboard!

That's not possible due to the different CPU sockets. i5-4440 is LGA 1150 & i3-550 is LGA 1156.

No. The I3-550 used a FCLGA1156 socket. The I5-4440 uses an 1150 socket. You would need to buy a new motherboard to use the new CPU

But if you mobo can handle OC and you wan do this try win in auction on ebay i7-875K try pick up below 140$ after OC can overtake any current gen i5 non k

Saddly Intel do not have in supported CPU list mentioned BIOS version but always better is update

Almost forgot due new CPU is generating more heat you can encounter overheat problem on old CPU cooler , what CPU cooler you currently use ?
In addition, when replacing CPU you need clean CPU / CPU cooler surface * best are Coffe filers + Isopryl Alcholol 70% , 90%
