I'm planning on purchasing a setup with the aforementioned components in it.I will mostly be playing games on it, along with general purpose work. My question here bieng is there any cause of worry regarding a bottleneck? I'm thinking of adding 16gigs of RAM.
Secondly,is there much difference in, say, a Crucial Ballistix sport LP and a Corsair Vengeance LPX in terms of performance?
Thanks in advance for any information :)

4c 4t cpus are starting to lack in multi core games, the extra two cores your cpu has wont bottleneck at all not even with 1080Ti.

16GB ram is a must nowadays, too much pagefile usage with 8GB ram and huge vram cards.

Sorry didn't see your second question. Memory speed above i5 8400's memory controller (2666) will depend on the motherboard if it allows faster via OC setting XMP in the bios. Difference over 2666MHz will be minimal but still an improvement so if you can find a good price on faster memory than standard 2666 then go for it. I favor Gskill personally but Corsair and Crucial are good too.
