Will an image of a hard drive also back up passwords/sensitive data?

If I back up a drive to an image, will all of my passwords for windows accounts, internet websites, cookies, browser history, etc. be saved in that image as well? I'd like to create an image of my entire system plus settings and tweaks, but not include web browser information or any other sensitive data.

Well you can back up excluding these settings, but an image, typically means you're copying block level data and which doesn't differentiate between files and settings.

Well, this is not strictly true on the enterprise level with granular image recoveries and such, but with consumer OS you'd need to do a backup not an image.

You can always just encrypt and password protect an image.

This would be for a work computer so I only want the programs and settings to be on the image with easy access for someone else to use in case I'm not around. Not the saved data for sites I view on my breaks 😉
