I'm about to buy the Evga Gtx 970 instead of upgrading my processor (CPU) to an i7. I want to know if the Intel Core i5‑4690K will bottleneck the new graphics card. (My current graphics card is an Evga Gtx 760, so it's a big step up.) Thanks!

No, you can use any current generation graphics card with i5 CPU with no bottleneck.

the i5 4690k is currently one of the top gaming cpu's and can easily keep a gtx 970 fed.

an i7 would offer you no advantage over it

Not at all, the step from i5 - i7 is really only for content creators, who will use it for streaming / video editing as well as gaming. Your i5 will do more than needed for the graphics card you're getting, hands down!

Using a 5 year old i5 2500k with a tiny bit of overclock with my new MSI gtx 970 and its like a miracle. Even old power supply worked with it.. If you're not a broadcasting professional, an i5 will keep on going for years tbh.
