Will an NVMe SSD work with the MSI Z87 G41?

I have this motherboard and would like to install an NVMe SSD using an M.2 PCIe adapter but I'm concerned that it may not boot. I can't find anything about NVMe on the product page. There's a drive compatibility list of specific models and it has PCIe drives listed but none of them are NVMe.

Does anyone know whether or not this would work?

I dont think so. I think a BIOS update has to support NVME as well. Cant see any mention of an update that says this
