Will an older CPU (AMD Phenom II X4 830) bottleneck a GTX 960?

This is just a short question that I wanted to ask. I'm currently upgrading another computer and the computer itself has an Phenom II X4 830. The card that is going to be put in it is a Asus Strix GTX 960 4GB.

If there is any issues, then there is no choice but to upgrade the CPU then.
Thanks.

The phenom will limit a 960 in so much as you won't see a big fps increase, most stuff will be limited by the CPU in that respect.
What you will get is a fairly sizeable increase in graphics quality.
Meaning depending on what old card is currently in there you'll be able to up the settings with no actual loss in fps.

This will depend on the game itself but in general I would say yes. That CPU is a dual core running at 2.8hz which is slow not to mention the architectural differences that have come over the years.

Well the CPU is actually a true quad core however there will still be a bottleneck depending on the game.

The person typically plays CS:GO, TF2, Ark etc.

I understand that. It's just temporary so by December they should have an FX 8320 CPU in there I believe. But as I said, will it run games like CS:GO and ARK a bit better?
