Will an SSD work with my Laptop?

I have a Lenovo G470 with an insydeh20 bios. I can switch from AHCI to compatible in it. My computer can fit an 2.5 inch SSD, question is? will it be compatible with my laptop? and what SSD brands and models will work on my laptop?

Any brand will work in your laptop. Your laptop though is only SATA II or 3Gbps (gigabits per second) where as most SSD are SATA III or 6Gbps. They will still work. They will still be a LOT faster than your HDD. They won't be able to pump out their full speeds because it is a slower connection but it will still be faster.
