I am currently using an i7-8700 (non-k) CPU and have it turbo boosted to 4.4 GHZ. I am going to be purchasing the highest tier of the 3000 series when they come out and was wondering if it would be worth it (or necessary) to look into upgrading my CPU as well.

From what I have read, upgrading this processor to something newer would only be beneficial if I was doing video editing etc...

I only use my PC for browsing the web and gaming in 1440p. So is this CPU worth upgrading? If so, what should I look at?

Solution
That's a big negative because:
1)You play games at 1440p, where the system will be more gpu bound.
2)The gains from upgrading the cpu wouldn't be cost-effective at all.

I think the OP was referring to the rumored nvidia 3000 series graphics cards, not ryzen 3000 series.
My advice is to buy the new graphics card first and then decide if a cpu upgrade is needed.
<Mod Edit>, I totally worded my post wrong. I WAS referring to the new Nvidia cards. I wanted to know if i needed to upgrade my CPU to support them since I will be buying the best of the 3000 generation
